Electrical capacity & grid planning

Will your power supply support your plans?

FLO checks your current supply and planned loads before you commit to equipment that may need more electrical capacity.

Every property is different. The free survey checks what is possible before you commit to a system.

The answer you need

Why can the electricity connection reshape a renewable project?

New loads need import capacity and generation may need export capacity. Internal distribution, protection and network conditions can change sizing, phasing, control or cost.

The property-specific checks

What will FLO check for your property?

We use these details to work out what is practical, what needs more investigation and what the next step should be.

01

Existing demand

Use records and measurement to understand peaks, diversity and power quality where relevant.

02

Future scenario

Model heat pumps, cooling, EVs, process changes, solar and batteries together.

03

Network route

Identify applications, timescales, limits, reinforcement risks and responsible parties.

The next step with FLO

What will your assessment and quote cover?

FLO starts with your property, then explains the recommended work, the price, important exclusions and the next steps in writing.

Questions you may have.

What is the difference between import and export capacity?+

Import supports loads such as heat pumps and charging; export permits surplus generation to flow to the network. Each has a different effect on the project.

Can controls avoid an upgrade?+

Load or export management can sometimes help, but it must be engineered around operational needs and accepted where required.

How early should the DNO be involved?+

As soon as the proposed capacities are credible enough to discuss. Late discovery of a connection limit can force redesign or delay procurement.

What might change the recommendation?+

Desktop estimates cannot guarantee network capacity or avoid a site survey. The network operator makes connection decisions, while the site remains responsible for suitable internal infrastructure.
