The answer

Can an installer give one standard installation time?

The on-site fitting may take several days, but the complete project begins earlier with survey, design, funding and any network or planning checks. Radiator, cylinder, electrical and fabric work can extend the programme; commissioning and handover are part of completion.

What happens before installers arrive?

Room-by-room heat loss and emitter design determine the system. Equipment availability, grant rules, outdoor placement, electrical capacity and possible permissions can affect when work may start. Ask for a programme that names these decision points rather than a date based only on fitting time.

What happens during and after?

The installation sequence may include removing old plant, changing radiators or pipework, fitting a cylinder and outdoor unit, electrical connection, filling and balancing, commissioning and controls training. Clarify periods without heat or hot water and what temporary arrangements are possible. Only call it finished once documentation and owner instruction are handed over.
